WPBeginner Turns 17: New Products, Free Training, and a $10,000 Giveaway

WPBeginner, the beginner-focused WordPress tutorial site founded by Syed Balkhi in 2009, is celebrating its 17th anniversary this week. To mark the occasion, the site is running a birthday giveaway with more than $10,000 in prizes available to readers.

A Year of Product Launches

The past twelve months were particularly active on the product side. The WPBeginner-affiliated team, operating under the Awesome Motive umbrella, shipped nine new tools for WordPress site owners:

  • WPVibe: A WordPress MCP server that lets AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor manage a WordPress site directly. An announcement video on X reportedly drew more than 440,000 views.
  • ActiveLayer: A server-side spam protection tool for forms, comments, and registrations that works without CAPTCHAs.
  • Universally: An AI-powered translation tool that can render a site in more than 110 languages automatically.
  • Uncanny Agent: Described as an AI assistant built natively for WordPress, developed by the Uncanny Automator team. It accepts natural-language questions and instructions about a site and acts on them.
  • WPChat: A live-chat widget that routes visitors to WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, or Telegram.
  • MemberPress AppKit: An addon for the MemberPress plugin that converts a membership site into a branded iOS and Android app.
  • WPForms Quiz Addon: Adds interactive quizzes and graded assessments to the WPForms builder.
  • WP Media Cleanup: A Duplicator-team release that identifies and removes unused media files to reclaim disk space.
  • WPFilters: Adds Amazon-style faceted search filters to WordPress content.

Traffic Headwinds and Content Strategy

Balkhi acknowledged that Google algorithm updates and the broader shift toward AI-generated answers continued to affect organic traffic over the past year. He noted the site is adapting its content creation approach for the current environment, while keeping its core mission of beginner-friendly WordPress tutorials unchanged.

Free Monthly Workshops

The WPBeginner Workshop program continued throughout the year, offering free live training sessions on topics including WordPress fundamentals, AI workflows, and privacy compliance. Each session ends with a live Q&A. Attendance is open to anyone on the WPBeginner newsletter.

Company Scale

Awesome Motive, the parent company behind WPBeginner and its portfolio of plugins, now employs more than 300 people worldwide. Collectively, the company’s plugins are active on more than 30 million websites, according to the post.

The birthday giveaway is live now on the WPBeginner site for readers who want to enter.
